REOPENING PLANS
The Rogers Historical Museum is excited to announce that we will be reopening our doors to the public on Thursday, September 24 with new temporary hours; Thursdays 10-11 & 1-2, Fridays 10-11 & 1-2, and Saturdays 11-2.
We know that 2020 has been a very challenging year for everyone, but we would like the community to know that your safety is our top priority. That is why we’ve added directional markers in the galleries to encourage social distancing, placed hand sanitizer stations throughout the museum, and museum staff will be cleaning the galleries and restrooms regularly during the day. Please be prepared upon arrival to have your temperature checked and to answer a few ADH screening questions. We also ask that you please bring an acceptable face covering to wear during your visit so that together we can help to stop the spread of the COVID-19.
Museum staff have been busy making a few modifications in the galleries since the Museum closed its doors to the public in March due to COVID-19 and you will notice some changes during your visit to a few displays, such as the expansion of the Monte Ne exhibit and the addition of a barn vignette in the Natural State gallery. We also invite you to explore our current special exhibit, Reflections of the Black Experience, curated by local artist Kinya Christian, featuring artworks by several local and regional artists that are reflective of the African diaspora to the modern-day Black experience in America.
To help protect against the spread of COVID-19, all touchable interactives in the galleries have been removed and the Children’s Gallery, Grandma’s Attic, and the Research Library will remain closed until further notice. We ask that you contact the Museum at 479-621-1154 or museum@rogersar.gov for any historical research inquiries.
Tours of the historic 1895 Hawkins House will also remain closed due to previously scheduled maintenance beginning this month, which includes repainting and minor repair work.
The Museum Store will be open and a museum staff member will be available to help access any items you may wish to purchase.
We’ve missed you and look forward to seeing YOU at the Museum!
